Fight Song***

Thanks to someone special I found out about a song. Not just an ordinary song…a powerful song trending on social media using the hashtag #ThisIsMyYSong.

The trend started about a week ago when women started posting videos of themselves lip-syncing to Rachel Platten’s single ‘Fight Song’. The awareness campaign was initiated by a Utah-based cosmetics producer, Younique and its non-profit organization for abused women called Younique foundation. The goal of #ThisIsMyYSong is to encourage the conversation on epidemic and adolescent sexual abuse.

According to Younique, every lip-syncing video posted before July 20 equals $1 of which the company will put aside to help fund projects and organize events for women who have been sexually abused as children or adolescents.

I believe it is a good initiative because there are so many hurting people that are afraid to speak out and others who do not think sexual abuse is a major issue. For a lot of victims this campaign would be a way to speak out without having to mention all the painful details.

I was almost abused but my experience was not as traumatic as actual victims. For every victim out there, please know you are not alone. There will be someone out there willing to hear your story and fight with you. Be encouraged, God will heal and restore you.

Jeremiah 29:11

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

Rachel wrote ‘Fight Song’ when she was going through a hard time.

And all those things I didn’t say
Wrecking balls inside my brain
I will scream them loud tonight
Can you hear my voice this time?

This is my fight song
Take back my life song
Prove I’m alright song
My power’s turned on
Starting right now I’ll be strong
I’ll play my fight song
And I don’t really care if nobody else believes
‘Cause I’ve still got a lot of fight left in me.
